JOANNE McCARTHY
Joanne McCarthy writes in English and Irish. Her poetry chapbook ‘All Your Shiny Braces’ was Highly Commended for the 2025 Patrick Kavanagh Award.
She was shortlisted for Poem of the Year at the An Post Book Awards, 2025. Her poem ‘Idir Dhá Theanga’ won the Four Faced Liar Poetry Competition 2025, and her poem ‘To Map a Leaf’ was highly commended in the Gregory O’ Donoghue International Poetry Competition, 2025.
A participant in Céadlínte: Poetry Ireland Introductions and Cork Poetry Introductions, her work has appeared in Poetry Ireland Review, The Stinging Fly, The Honest Ulsterman, Southword, Rattle, Aneas, Comhar, Lampa ar Lasadh: Gradam Mháire Mhac an tSaoi, Howl New Irish Writing, Gutter and others.
Bhuaigh sí comórtas An Fhéich Dhuibh, 2023. Bhronn An Chomhairle Ealaíon dhá sparánachtaí uirthi. Joanne holds a MA in Poetry from the Seamus Heaney Centre, Queen’s University Belfast. She is co-founder and co-editor of The Waxed Lemon.

Derek Flynn is a Waterford author, playwright, and musician with a Masters in Creative Writing from Trinity College, Dublin. He is the author of six novels, including the John Ryan series featuring the eponymous ex-cop turned private detective. His award-nominated plays have been performed in Garter Lane Art Centre, Waterford, and Smock Alley, Dublin, amongst other venues.
